About Us
Our History
Jonesburg Baptist Church has been sharing the word and work of God in the Jonesburg, Missouri area since early 1850. The writing of the first constitution was recorded on April 29, 1871.
In early 1882 a committee from the Primitive Baptist met with the Missionary Baptist of Jonesburg. The purpose of the meeting was to sell half ownership in their building and move it into Jonesburg. In the summer of 1882 the building was moved to its' present location. Pastor E. H. Burman purchase the land and paid all the moving expenses out of his own pocket. The building was moved by rolling it on logs, as teams of horses were pulling it. The trip was about two miles. Over the years the building has been update and modernized. A new addition has been added to the original building' consisting of a Pastor's office,Sunday School rooms and a Fellowship Hall.
The important thing is not the history of the building but the indication of the history of faithful Christians going forward in the work of the Lord. There have been many souls led to Christ over the years, and with His guidance there will be many more before He comes again. It is our hope that the Lord will use us in a greater way than He ever has before.
At some point in time during the early 1900's, we aligned our church with and became members of the Southern Baptist Convention. Also, we are members and partner of the Missouri Baptist Convention and the Twin Rivers Baptist Association.
Our church is about people. It's about the community we share as a family. At Jonesburg you will find exciting and loving Christian you can "Connect, Grow, and Serve" with as friends and family.
The congregation of Jonesburg Baptist extends an invitation to you to visit us in any of our services and become part of the family of God.
